I would try one from a salvage yard. Just make sure it is out of the same type truck that you have (5.8L, same transmission, and a Map sensor unless you have a California truck).
No it is in the drivers kick panel and comes out from under the hood.
you really think it needs a computer? is there a way i can test it? could a used one be recommended? is it under the dash? thanks for all your help!
Myself I'd pull it out remove the cover and visually inspect it, see how the board looks. Anything leaking, bulging, corroded connections at board level etc? then that with your symptoms make it a real safe bet its bad.
Gotta say I think you'll find some of those type conditions inside it.
I'd buy a used one, should be 40 - 50 bucks for one.
Its slid into a slot in the firewall behind the driver side front wheel, removed from under the hood side, I know subford has a real nice image maybe he'll post it.
You gotta undue the inner fender at the rear, remove the screws to the fender lip, pry it forward with a wood stick to get it fully clear of its slot removing it.
If you do get it out and inspect it, and it shows the capicators bulging or have already blown, I would look for a good computer shop. They may replace the caps for just a nominal fee. In the mean time, I would do as others have suggested and look for one @ a salvage yard / look for a used one perhaps on Ebay.
It will have a code such as BUG2, HOG0, etc....and a Ford Part # once you pull out the eec, just try and match those with the replacement and you should be good.
I pulled the computer today and found one burnt place on top side of the circuit board and two burnt places on the bottom!! thanks!! searching for replacement!!
Yea wasn't anything you did then, time to pull the computer.
hate to be the beror of bad news but I believe your computer is pooched at this point, seeing as you seemed to do all the tests/fixes correctly as far as i can tell (and yes I just checked with one of my buddies at Big O who is one of the head mechs) and he said same thing "pooched computer" so I would suggest pulling the computer (don't get rid of it untill you confirmed the new computer fixed most/all codes/issues) and go from there...ill check around and see if theres anything else I can think of to help you, but as far as I can tell (from personal experience and dealing with similar issues on other cars) the computer is pooched, if not getting close to being pooched...

Let us know how it runs after you find a replacement. Just remember to match the strategy...i.e.Bug2 or whatever and the Ford part number.
update: I got the computer in today and got it installed, noticed a big difference, but still have one fault 126. it has high idle (app. 1500), and still shift hard, but i did put a new neutral position sensor on before the computer, but don't know how to adjust it, i hear it takes a special wrench. thanks for any input. It is doing a lot better and the computer was definitely bad. i actually got one used for $37 bucks!!
