egr install

Is it easier to leave it loose on the intake,or should I tighten it up,then install the intake back on the engine?. Looks like getting it back on the exaust will be fun.got the oil cooler in,everything buttoned up,new fuel spring and it runs lime a champ.thanks for the help, its all appreciated.one thing though, since putting in the blue spring now I can hear the fuel pump run at idle.the pressure went from sixty at idle,to fourty five at wot,too a constant seventy five psi.is it because of the pressure increase?, its gotta be.I can definitely tell a difference in throttle response.

hey steelhead hows it coming

might try to leave that back egr bolt loose till you get the marmon clamp lined up and tight at egr connection

I smeared my marmon clamps with antiseize it really helped alot

Its a good feeling knowing that your trucks not going to blow the oil cooler going down the road

as it gets hot weather Im shure oil cooler failure will pickup

Mines horseshoe shaped.its going good.put the intake in a high pressure hot water parts washer for 8 hours and it came really clean.took the fuel pressure spring out and found the little black plastic round piece was in pieces though, glad I ordered the blue spring kit.so I think ill leave the cooler loose and install it that way.sounds like that'll be easiest.got parts and will start the install in the morning.one other thing, how'd you keep the intake gaskets straight when you put the intake on?.

Steel if your manifold is open in back no problem , with mine being closed in back made it imposible to get to.

I bolted my egr coolant suplly/ deleate on the intake and put the intake manafold back in

I dont know if this will work on the side with the egr cooler but here it goes

after I got the intake manafold back in then I put the intake gaskets in real easy with the egr cooler gone Just slipped them inbetween the two as I lifted the intake up a hair then I started the bolts anf tourque.

by sliding the gaskets in like this you eliminate the chance at ruining the gasket it sucks with the wire harness in the way to get the manafold in and gaskets lined up

If I ever pull the intake out again I will undo the intake bolts then slide the intak gasket out so I dont scrape the gasket again

make shure the locating tabs are facing up It will about line itself up as you start the bolts

some people weld plugs in the ends of the egr cooler exhaust sides and just use the cooler for coolant flow back to the intake looks stock

Iv heard of other people put in freeze plugs not shure what size

Steel i just cut two round plugs out of 3'16 stainless and my friend tig welded them in. I did both ends just in case something breaks inside. If that happens it will just be a bigger water line.
