I have my truck in the shop now for the same issue
I went from 18.2 to 15.2
Ford said there is nothing wrong
But i went months at 18 then after tranny flash 2 weeks later i noticed it was going down. I reset and have been averaging 15 sense.
I thought I read in another thread that the computer gets reset for mpg's and actually calculates them to truer number after the flash - that preflash it's reporting higher than what is real. I'll see if I can find it. The suggestion is to hand calculate a couple of tanks and see how those numbers compare to the computer.
Yes, I did have the Trans Flash done a few weeks ago. I have had only one 2-3 slip in 2k mi but, happened to be at my dealer to discuss an issue with my wifes Expedition and ask them if they would do it and they said sure. I remember the 6.7 tech telling me the trans would go thru a new learn process, which I knew. He also mentioned that there would be a new "Idle Learn" which I have never heard of. The tech indicated it would idle a little rough for awhile. I have noticed it appears to be a little louder during idle, maybe it is sipping a little more fuel during brief idle times.
Just trying to observe and learn the trucks habits when it is healthy, so I am conscious when this 62K animal isn't feeling well.

Funny you mention the idle thing. For the first month I owned my truck, it was smooth as silk. Then the idling and vibration got a bit louder (and has remained so).
These trucks have so much going on electronically, at times it is hard to say what is normal. Recently, I have been hearing this chirp about a minute after shutdown. Never did it all winter, now it chirps....

Mine idles louder now too. And it's louder on acceleration than it was new.
In spite of that, a couple of months ago, I was idling my way through a campground (with the driver's window rolled down), and a guy on foot who I passed did a double-take and said, "that's the quietest diesel I've ever heard."
When it gets to be one quarter as loud as my '05 and previous diesels were, or one eighth as loud as the Mopoor (sic) Cummins I heard last Saturday night, I'll start to worry.
There are several post shutdown noises well documented by EpicCowlick and others. Search for them, Epic's video's are fun to watch.
That chirp is a vacuum release of the egr valve (I think)
I haven't seen this one in any of the Epic productions. And never heard it until the temps got over 90. Maybe we should encourage Epic to make a musical based on the sounds of the Super Duty!

I reported on another thread that the MPG used to report DTE is actually based on the last 500 miles average MPG. If you are using the trip screen and reset the MPG each time at fill-up, you should get a more accurate MPG. I have been averaging around 0.3 MPG difference over hand calculations. Most of this difference can be attributed to me "topping" off the tank.
The MPG reported on the instant MPG screen is actually a time based calculation of MPG. It is usually off quite a bit.
No, none of you are crazy. There are all sorts of noises.
The transmission pan makes some sort of noise whenever it feels like it.
With the key nearby or in the house through many walls; locked or unlocked.
For the chirp, I think he does have a video somewhere or if not Epic, someone posted one showing the actuator move.
I remember several of us discussing the chirp; or a drop of water into a small pool in a cave with good acoustics is how I describe it.
Followed by three series of two clicks (on/off on/off on/off).
Something activates when you slide the key into the ignition, too. Even before turning the key.

My seat moves forward when I put the key in the ignition - it's the courtesy (convenience) setting, I think? It moves back when the truck is turned off. Not sure what else happens when you put the key in - maybe makes a handshake with the ignition chip thingy.

Here are the shut-down sounds and the EGR valve actuating:
Completed the same RT as before, the only difference was the bed cover was on. Did have a regen halfway thru the trip. Mileage average at the end of the trip was back to 18.5 I am still confused but relieved as I was wondering why the 2mpg sudden drop.
Could it be, the documented proof of the exposed bed, air flow, bubbles and etc dont account for things such as long beds, or the fact that the rear of the bed is more elevated than the front of the bed causing a different air flow around and over the entire truck.
