hey guys im having an issue with my 2000 7.3 holding a charge. i keep getting a power draw from fuse panel under dash - fuse 15. the guy said its the computer not turning off after car turned off. he said hes never seen it. any body seen this issue before? thanks
it could take anywhere from a day to a week to bee completely dead again. i have had the alternator replaced. disconnected the grounds and used a test light to the ground terminal. and was still getting power. so went under dash and found what fuse was still lighting up. which was the fuse 15
the computer may have its on ground, i would think it would to keep it safe. the drains are hard to find maybe someone can help that has been down this road. i would think i would be hard for the computer to drain them in a day but strange things happen.
Also remember, once you remove that grounds from the batteries, and then reconnect (or use your test light), the PCM will "wake up" and show a draw. Best way to isolate a parasitic draw is to have an amp meter connected, then close the doors and wait for the PCM to go to sleep. (like when you leave your door open, I forget how long think it's like 120 seconds, the lights go out), then you'll see what's being drawn, suppose to be less than 50 milliamps.
