Steering column, wheel, ignition, etc.
I have a 1990 F-150 SuperCab, 4x4, long box, 4.9L w/ 5speed.
The truck has a tilt column in it that was swapped in by a previous owner. The wheel was on 180 degrees off. I pulled the steering wheel to flip it around, but I found that there is a flat spot among the splines that won't allow such a simple fix. Anyone know of a "quick" way to get the wheel put on right side up? I am not seeing it. Maybe I am missing something?
Also, I am swapping in a new turn signal switch and re-wiring the ignition to a dash-mounted switch. The previous owner had a push button for the ignition crank function and you had to have the key on to start the truck. After a number of stuck starter relays, I am going to completely remove the ignition cylinder from the steering column. I have a typical off/accessory/run/start switch to use.
I am wondering if anyone can comment on the function of the little "finger" contact block that attaches to a black/pink wire and makes contact with the ignition key cylinder. I am guessing that might go to the "key-on" buzzer? Anyone? I hope it is something I can just cut out of the wiring.
Hope someone can help -

That little finger I believe does go to the buzzer chime.
I did find in the service book that the "finger" contact is the key on buzzer, as you had said. Thanks!
As far as the pittman arm and re-centering the steering, is this a procedure you have done? Do I need to disassemble any of the steering linkages or just remove the cotter pin and nut from the steering box/pitman arm connection? It looks like I need to use a two-jaw puller to get it apart. Will any old puller work or is space limited? Or would a pickle-fork & air chisel do it?
Thanks again -
C.J.
