I took my 1952 F-1 radiator to the shop to get it cleaned and to get the inlets and outlets converted to work with my 302. All of this was supposed to be about $150. Well the shop called me back and said I needed to re-core the old radiator.
So....
What stock Mustang radiator can I buy at AutoZone Orielly's etc etc that will fit in the original space in the core support?
I bought this one on Ebay from Superior Radiator. It was listed at $350 with a best offer option...I offered $275 & they accepted. A couple of other guys have done the same since then as well.
They make these on-site in Michigan and will place the hose outlets to whatever you specify. The one in the picture is set up for a small block ford. This particular one also has the transmission cooler incorporated, but you can get one without that if that's what you need.
A radiator for a mid-70s Dodge P/U is almost a bolt-in. Depends on if you order for a 6 cyl or v-8 as to which side the bottom outlet is on. I only paid $145 for mine at the local parts house.
I bought some new parts from a fellow FTEer some time ago when he decided to abandon his F1 project. One of the things I got was a new Howe Racing radiator that he bought through NoLimit (RADIATOR 1948-52 F-1-No Limit Engineering). The outlets are set up for a SBC. Send me a PM if this might work for you.
Thanks for all the replies. I looked at mid 70's Dodge truck radiators, then I said what the heck, and look at mid 70's Ford truck radiator. I see lots and lots of choices with the outlets on the correct sides and trans coolers included and for 302 motor. Whahoo
The interesting think is that O'Reilly's the part numbers for 1955, '65, and '75 are all the same radiator and pricing is less than $200.
I got a 1970 mustang radiator from advance auto for like 165 bucks. It fits just inside the original radiator support on my 51, I'm going to make some tabs/bracket things so I can just bolt it right in.
I'm using one out of a 1980 f150, the inlet and outlet are backwards. But I found hoses to fit. I got the rad brand new for free so I figured 'what the heck' if it dosen't work out, I haven' lost anything.
