Sure this has been already covered some where, but looking for what I need to do the mad swap on my speed density set up, been looking at mustard set up seeing how im getting rid of the e4od and building a co, thanks for the info
the thing youll have to keep in mind if your using the stock mustang computer it is programed for certain parameters and your 460 is alot different than a 302 (5.0) you will need custom programing or aftermarket computer, it will run but the computer has its limits and would not have a clue to what is going on.
why does EVERYONE wanna do a maf conversion?? Just keep it speed density and tune it with a standalone system like aem. sd is way easier to tune than maf
I put on a MAF conversion last summer using the Mustang computer and made no mods to it. Runs very well at both sea level and altitude (6500). Conversion was simple and took about 3 hours. Just the second O2 sensor had to go to the shop. There is enough room in the Mustang computer's parameters for fuel control etc. The 460 has accepted all the mods that I have done which were fairly light weight. Heavy mods would require a computer change. All in all, the 460 runs, starts (in 30 below weather) better than I could imagine. Very happy with it. From freeway to hunting and bashing through the snow drifts, it's been great.
Go on line to Ford Fuel Injection. They have all the good info. I used a C&L MAF. The wiring loom is the most expensive. All the other parts were Ford. I used an intake tupe from an injected 6 cylinder and an air filter box from an injected calif 460 which is MAF. This web sit will give you all you will need. Also Fordmuscle.com has an article call Big Ugly Work Truck that they did a conversion on. It has some good info, although it was a 302, but went the same.
