The 4.6 is great on Gas but if thats not an issue
I would go with the 5.4 becasue you will get more power with towing and you will get more passing power on the Highway...then 4.6 works good enough but You will have to put it out of overdrive of course to get good pulling..
I would go with the 5.4 becasue it be eayer on your truck...plus more power and you can smoke the Chevy boys lol
If you've got the choice and you will do any towing I would go with the bigger motor. The gas mileage won't be all that much different, and either V8 is a good choice, but the 5.4 is much more powerful. I do 75-85 on the highway commute and get about 12 mpg (its down lately not sure why).
Based on what you said, you have no reason to go with the smaller motor!
well i picked out the truck today and i went for the 5.4 the truck is a lariat FX4 OFFROAD super crew white w/silver trim im going to get it on tue or wed of next week and i will get some pics also
I'd recommend the 5.4. I just bought a 2003 King Ranch Super Cab with the 5.4, and am very pleased with the power. Milage around town is 12, but it's only got 1500 miles on it so far, and I don't do much freeway driving. As for beating the Chevies, I drove a Chevy Super Cab with the 5.3 before I bought the Ford, and to be honest, by the seat of the pants, they feel the same.
