So my transmission is leaking out the bottom of the front cover near the flywheel...it only leaks though on long highway trips (like 2 hours or more cruisin 70 or something).
I didnt have this problem in early April...but then I had the oil pan replaced (lifted motor..not cuttin crossmember) in late April. Didnt take many highway trips until Memorial Day weekend I had some leakage, but no shifting problems. This past weekend did a 2 hour drive...about 10 miles from destination it didnt want to downshift. Low fluid. Once I put fluid in it I didnt have any problems coming back. So i believe my tranny is still good?!?! it just leaks right?
When they pulled the engine to replace the pan...would they have to mess with that front seal on my tranny? or is simply because of age..and now that its hot that causes the front seal to finally leak?
Front trans seal...it's known to leak after the trans gets good and hot. After it cools off the it will seal again, at first it only leaks with heat. Eventually it will leak all the time.
They would not have to replace the trans front seal for an oil pan unless you asked them.
Thanks Jim. I figured as much. I decided to do it myself since my friend offered to help and we doin it in his A/C garage with a lift..figured id do both seals and filter. Sure wasnt doin it in my garage...being its 96 degrees out expected to reach 105 today
