v10 temperatures
I have a 2004 V10,4X4 CC LB AT
What should the temperatures be for the engine coolant, transmission fluid and the transmission itself?
I know this might very a little because of ambient temperatures, and whether or not I'm climbing a slope etc. but what is a ballpark average?
What should these same temperatures average while pulling a 10,000lbs 5th wheel?
Thanks in advance.
Greg
ps From this site I'm learning that stock gauges aren't very accurate and I'm planning to buy some much better gauges soon. However, I still need to know what average temperatures should be in order for those new gauges to do me much good.
As far as the transmission fluid, it depends on how hard you're working, and also the ambient temperatures.
When towing on flat ground, my transmission seems to hover about 70-90 degrees over ambient. (150 on 70 degree day, 190 on 110+ degree day). After a looonng hard grind up a serious grade (like Donner pass), or in lots of stop and go traffic, it may get up to 150 over ambient, but that is just for a few minutes.
I do have a huge tranny cooler behind the condensor.
Coolant, should get much above 200, the stock t-stat is 195 I think.
