Ok, I guess I can post now. FTE locked up the past two times I tried to start this thread. = pissedmeoff

On the key switch there is a large 8-10ga yellow wire that joins a large 8-10ga black with yellow stripe wire at a fuesable link. The black with yellow stripe wire is supposed to go to the starter solenoid based off the schematic Ive been using BUT this wire has a plug that also joins a smaller 12-14ga yellow with black stripe and red with green stripe wire at its end. When I hacked up my factory harness I labeled the two smaller wires went to the factory amp gauge.

so, could the schematic be wrong and this wire actually go to the alternator or am I missing something?

Schematic Ive been using

Plug in question

Don't the three smaller wires have something to do with the voltage regulator on the fender? Or maybe the gauge? I don't really remember. The only time I have messed with that part of the harness was to when I did a 3g swap.

the two smaller wires go to the factory gauge based on my tags before I cut the wires at the cluster.

If you remember what wires you cut/spliced for the 3g alternator that would help some. As of right now the only wire I have unaccounted for is something for the alternator so this big black/yellow must be it.

Seems like I cut the green wire and spliced into the exciter terminal on the new alternator. There are two places if I remember right where there something like a 6 or 8 gauge black wire. One feeds the battery side of the starter solenoid, and one feeds the fuse block inside.
