I have a hum that just started out of the blue and its very annoying.
I have a 2000 with the V10. It doesn't change levels with RPM but I was able to trace it down to the air intake before the filter. On the right hand side of where the filter would sit there are two holes. I'm guessing that these draw in warm air from the engine compartment before going into the TB. Would it be ok to cover these so I don't have this loud hum all the time. Are these there to provide warm air during the winter or all the time? Any help anyone could give me would be appreciated.

Reason: Mispelling
Nobody seems to know what that hole is for (mine has one) but it is probably an idea an engineer had to improve the system but doesn't necessarily do anything. If covering the hole upsets the turbulence enough to stop the humming noise I doubt very much if it would affect the way it runs and I would do it but take the filter out or change it and see if that does it also.
