'97 mark VIII 4.6????
I'm looking at swapping a DOHC 4.6 out of a 97 Lincoln Mark VIII into my 93 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I love the eclipse, it feels like a little go kart. I was going to work on the 4 cylinder motor to make more power. Then I saw the 4.6 sitting on the floor and started thinking.
What kind of performance mods can I do to this motor easy/cheap? It has butterfly vlaves on half the intake tubes for better low end, Mustangs don't have them.....why's that? Should I get rid of it? Should I use a different intake all together to get the throttle body in the front? Can I find higher compression pistons?
I'm used to dealing with FE's and know very little about these new motors other than that they remind me of a FE 427Cammer

The butterfly valves are there to help with low end torque on the Lincolns because they are geared kinda high (3.08) and have an auto trans. The DOHC Mustangs were lighter and had manual transmissions. I would leave them if you have the mating PCM to run it. They open up around 3000rpm for better top end power.
You can find all kinds of pistons, cams, stc for these engines. places like DSS Stroker Kits Forged pistons Engine kits
Good headers will help it breathe vs the log manifolds and a custom tune with a Diablosport Predator will give you a nice gain as well.
The Lincoln Throttlebody is in the rear and the Mustang is in the middle facing right. Not sure of an intake that moved it to the front.
