Hazard Light Question...
I've got working headlights & tail lights, parking lights, turn signal- and stop lights, once I get the switch mounted in a bracket. The combination of old wiring and new made things interesting to say the least.
The only thing I cant get working is the hazard flashers- And they are not on the wiring diagram that I have for a '65... Mine is a '66, perhaps it was different? To add to the difficulty, the steering column is from a 73 or 74... So the wiring isn't exactly plug and play.
The dash mounted hazard switch has power to it, and when I pull it, the hazard indicator on the dash lights up, but the lights do not. There is a black/red wire coming out of the switch that leads to no where- it's been cut- and I suspect that this is the problem, but without a diagram I'm not sure where it should go.
Oh- One other thing- There is a push button switch in the dash, above the ignition switch-

It isn't connected to anything. At first I thought that it was a later addition, but the way the hole is made, it LOOKS like it's been there from the factory... Any clue what it could be for?
The NEXT major projects- Hooking the parking brakes back up, and the speedometer cable....

I'll probably just leave the switch there rather than plug it- might use it for the horn until I get the steering wheel fixed/replaced. Right now, the button below the ignition is for the horn.. its ugly!

In the '65 and older trucks that indention for the windshield washer switch housed a ****/cable for the lower air vents. For whatever reason Ford decided to remove that for the '66 and require you to bend down to the floor to open the air vents.
This gets a little hairy sometimes when trying to let in some fresh air while driving....especially if you're reaching across to the passenger side!
It fits within a bracket that bolts to the dash adjacent to the radio and is a H/D unit. The 4 way flasher looks the same as the T/S flasher, but has a louder click.
This was also used w/trailer towing, and for clearance lamps in lieu of the T/S flasher and was installed by dealers in lieu of the T/S flasher for peeps that were deaf.
The 'light duty' T/S flasher should not be used in lieu of the 4 way flasher.
There was an 'extra' flasher hanging under the dash, a smaller one, that wasn't wired into anything... I just wish I could see it all on a schematic, the one that I have for the '65 doesn't have the flasher on it. I am really surprised that the Ford service manuals don't have the wiring diagrams in them!

Believe it or not: The 4 way flashers were optional thru 1966. Also available at the parts counter as an accessory. 1961/66: There were 4 different dealer installed kits!
Accessories may not be mentioned in shop manuals, cuz that's the way Ford did things back then.
Something else to consider: The newer (1973/77-essentially the same) steering column you have has the 4 way flasher switch within the T/S switch.
There is a button that pokes out from the switch to activate the 4 ways.
