Ive been with TMobile now for 11 years and until reciently Ive been happy. They have the most lame selections of cell phones of all the major carriers. I have always had Blackberrys and have been happy with them. I was looking at switching to AT&T because 1) They have both the Blackberry Torch and the IPhone4 for $50 with a new contract and 2) I can save $20+ a month with a discount from my employer.
With that being said...do I go for the Torch or IPhone 4? I was told to wait for the Iphone 5, then also told Id have to purchase a seperate Iphone data plan that would cost extra over the one that Id have for the Torch. Any suggestions?
I can't stand the BB that I have for work. My wife hated hers when she had one too.
We've both had iPhones for 2 years now and would never own anything else. So obviously I'd say go for the iPhone. You know Verizon has them now too right? You don't necessarily have to go with ATT.
There is a tentative deal in place, but it will more than likely be a year or more until the red tape disappears, if at all. As usual with big business, it will come down to who gets their pockets lined.
if you are willing to stay with T-Mobile how about looking at the HTC HD7 (or alternately the Dell Venue Pro)? I don't know if you have seen/tried Windows Phone 7 yet but, if not I would say it's worth at least looking into before making any final decisions. (btw, in general I do agree that the T-Mobile phone choices are kinda sad these days but, I'm pretty happy with my Venue Pro)
I just want a phone the receives and makes calls, and takes pictures..........I don't give a rats azz about internet, or texting or any of that crap.......can I find one?.....NO!

Sure go to Verizon. My wife and I each have one and that is all that they do although our plan doesn't have texting on it. She doesn't know how and I don't want to mess with it although I can do it if I really need to. The ones we have are bulky, but they are suppose to be more resistant to drops and the like and at least at the time had the best battery life.
I had the samsung flip shot from verizon before I got the droid x. I really liked the flip shot. Was small, very seldom dropped calls, and the best part..... A 5 mega pix camera. My wife liked hers so much, when renual time came up, she got another flip shot

That's exactly what I said 2 years ago.
The only reason I ended up with an iPhone is because the Motorola Tundra was out of stock (I waited for over a month and they still weren't in). My wife was getting an iPhone and said I should just get one too. Whatever.
I gotta tell ya.... having a handheld computer is quite nice. I don't text, I don't do facebook or twitter or any of that other crap. But having everything else that comes with a smartphone is well worth it. When they say "There's an app for that", they aren't kidding. There's pretty much nothing you can't access or find out one way or another. I think you would be pleasantly surprised.
There's a reason the "simple" phones are a dying breed.

Well, I am kinda simple, and I ain't dead yet!
I can see where some might benefit from such stuff, but not me.
But I have no use for that garbage, no use for layers of instructions I have no patience with, tiny buttons and text only a 13 year old girl can see and failing screens (a buddy sent back 3 of em cause the screen died)
I will most likely hang on to my old Samsung, or check out the ideas posted earlier.
All and all, I hate cellphones.......but they are a necessary evil, I just want the simplest one available.
Personally I have the 1st generation droid with verizon......I'm going to upgrade when the new model comes out, but I've been with verizon for quite awhile now, and you CANNOT get better coverage anywhere (barring a satellite phone of course.....).
I wouldn't pee on an iphone to put out the fire.......Overrated and overpriced because soooooo many people are willing to wait in line for that piece of crap because.....well.....it's an IPHONE, dude! Steve Jobs rocks! If you ain't apple, you ain't NOTHING, man!
Boy. Talk about a company scoring an A+ on hype and B.S. and getting the mob to storm the barricades to buy their product!
