Dead OBDII port??
Dead OBDII port??
Does anyone know why the OBDII port might stop working? My CEL comes on every once in a while, and I know what the problem is, but I always like to check and clear the code to make sure its not something new. Today when I plugged in my code reader nothing happened. Normally the reader pulls power from the port but it just stayed off.
Is the OBDII port fused? Or is there something else I should check?

Thanks! I'm glad to find it IS on a fuse.. Thats easier than pulling cords. I'm ok with pulling every fuse if it means thats the problem
Any idea which number it is? I dont have a manual to look in.

On your '02 it should be fuse 12.
Also here is a link to the owners manual.

Thanks I will check number 12! If anyone else can find me a pdf of the right manual (diesel supplement would be appreciated too) then I will be very thankful.
I know this is a silly question...but you are turning on the key when trying to connect AE, right?

Yes, and my particular code reader seems to like it when the engine is on, so I do and always have done it with the motor running.

I has happened here before and it took us all a while to figure it out. Eventually someone asked the question and the OP had a good laugh because his key was in the off position.
I'm sure that will be me on some other question some day.
Go to Official Ford, Lincoln & Mercury Owner Site | Personalized Owner Information | FLMowner.com then register. Input your VIN number and you will ave full access to all the owners manuals and supplements. It is a pretty handy site that if you want can track maintenance for you too.
Check your manual first... find the position in the manual, get the # for the fuse, and then check the number for the correct fuse, it has them all listed. REALLY NEED the correct fuse in there!
