A kind gentleman posted this in response to a power question I had in another thread.. Can anyone tell me anything about these and how it helps the performance, whats involved in tuning, etc.. any drawbacks? What kind of gains could be expected?
It should tell you everything you need to know. Additionally, there is a chip forum here at this site.
I pondered a "chip" for a couple years, then when these tuners were introduced I had to get one. The only drawback in that you must run high octane (more expensive) gasoline to realize the performance gains. Regardless of gas prices, the supreme generally only costs $0.15 to $0.20 per gallon more.
Exactly HOW does this increase performance? Does it change Spark duration? Air/fuel mixture? Just curious as to what it ACTUALY does?? I know A long time ago answer racing products marketed a "roost boost" that changed the spark duration to help burn ALL gas in the cylinder "longer duration" I know this helped on bikes in the 80's.
