I want to paint my truck in a flat finish , in the past I've used two part epoxy primer but I want more color choices this time than white, black, and red.
I was wondering if using two part paint without the clear coat would work, seal out water and hold up in the weather?
Does anyone make a flat clear coat?
I'm not half bad with a wrench but paint and body work has never come easy to me!
Can any one here help me with what options I would have for a flat finish paint job?
I couldn't find it in my search, but I recall reading that the base coat is porus and will not hold up to the weather without the clear coat on it.
According to this older thread (post # 7) there is a flattening agent for the clear coat but you have to be good at painting or willing to live with whatever imperfections that may occur because sanding them out will shine the clear coat.

Oh yeah, welcome to FTE and please post pictures of your project.
You are correct Carlene. I've heard of a few manufacturers that make a matte clear coat, but right off the top of my head, I can't remember them. Maybe Google "matte automotive clear coat".
I know PPG does, or at least use to, but not everyone has a PPG supplier handy. I had one down in West Palm, but there's next to nothing here in Ocala.
