I called classic yesterday and didn't get much out of them. the guy I talked to was almost clueless. When I asked which one (brand) of the movements they used in thiers he said it was thier own. While that is a posssibility I seroiusly doubt it. (i don't think they supply ford with speedos, as i just think they use the same movement for thier instrument that ford buys from)
The TSB as I read is for ALL Ford truck of that era with electronic speedos. (it was just posted in the bronco section)
From the TSB
"TSB 94-11-23 PSOM Programming by DIP Switch
Publication Date: JUNE 1, 1994
MEDIUM/HEAVY TRUCK: 1987-95 C SERIES, CARGO SERIES, F & B SERIES, L SERIES
ISSUE: The field has requested a simplified calibration procedure for electronic speedometers/odometers. "
You talked to the wrong guy. I at first had a hard time making them understand I was talking about a truck speedometer. Finally the guy said that yes he did seem to remember something about them making them for trucks at one time. He took my number and called me back after he talked to someone in another department that had been there a long time, this person he talked to is also the some one that had all the codes and he gave me the correct codes for my speedometer. Here are some pictures that I took of the front and the back of the 8 dip switch speedometer that I took out of my truck. The odemeter didn't work and I replaced it with a 10 dip switch that had an identical back to my 8 switch. The 10 switch came out of an 91 L cab Ford. So I have no doubt that Classic was the ones that made at least some of the speedometers for the big trucks. The codes he gave me for my truck were dead on the money and consistent with the speed shown on my GPS.
This is the back of the 8 switch speedometer shown on the Classic website
This is the back of my 8 switch speedometer that came out of my LTL. Note that the two backs are identical.
This is the front of the speedometer that came of the LTL.
I found out the electronic speedometers used in the L cab Fords are the Beede models. So the codes posted earlier in this thread are good for the big truck as well. Also if you will go back and look at the top of the page of the two pages of codes I posted you will see the word Beede. So apparently Classic does use Beede internal parts. Between the two pages I posted and the link that Bronco man posted all the codes should be there.
