Morning Gentlemen, not meaning to hi-jack ya'lls chat thread.
I'm coming up on another set of military orders into CT come fall, and wanted to see if there's anything I need to be concerned with my modified F350 and the local laws up there?
I thank ya'll for your time in advance.
Do you plan on registering it in ct? Other than emissions (which as long as your check engine light isn't on), you can pretty much register & drive anything here in ct.

There are things like bumper height and window tint restrictions...
You should post up some pictures of your truck.
Where are you going to be stationed?
Welcome to Connecticut!

He should be fine. I'm fairly certain military is allowed to remain registered at their home rather than current location. That negates emissions. The suspension lift law is 4" but never enforced. Window tint tickets are few and far between as well. Tons of modded diesels running around this state. Not an issue at all.

What pete said, as long as you are not driving like a jack ***, you should not have any problems. Also a military sticker usually buys some leeway. It used to buy me some anyways.

like stated before, emmissions is your only worry. if you have a clean obdII and a cat, you are fine. no cat sometimes will get you a fail, but most diesels dont get busted for it. i did on the mustang, had to put the cats on and get a pass, then take them back off.

lift law in CT is 6" above the UNSPRUNG (wheels on ground with no weight on them) height of the vehicle, which makes it more like 12". the catch is bumper and headlight heights, which i dont remember off the top of my head.
there are plenty of lifted trucks, some mall crawlers pushing into the realm of ridiculous, and for most there isnt an issue.
also, one law you should know about is the word YALL is forbidden.

It will be more convenient to register it in CT, vise driving back and forth to CO to do so. Emissions I'm not worried about too much, I've maintained all emission control equipment (EGR cooler and CAT), and I will re-flash back to stock before the inspection.

As mentioned, its easier to register there with a shipboard deployment schedule, than try to make it back to CO every so often. My biggest concern is a rumor I've stumbled across that exhaust systems need to be stock on these trucks. Which means the 5" system I have would need to come back off.
We are going to be working at the Groton sub base starting July 5th. Oh yeah I also have aftermarket exhaust, never had a problem at emisions, I never even flash mine back to stock!

Thanks for making me feel welcome already.
My truck had gauges, intake, and 4" exhaust (used to run a 5" tip) when it went through emissions and the guy didn't look twice at it.
The exhaust laws for CT (As best I understand them. I'm sure I'll be corrected soon) are you must have a muffler (no cutouts allowed) and if your vehicle is supposed to have a cat it needs to be there.
Looks like I'm chasing a rumor then, I appreciate ya'lls time.
I'm from Colorado originally, not really a southern state. My father had the accent a bit, and since the majority of fellas I hang around with the Navy are southerners I do have the drawl a bit.
If I can pass with the exhaust when I get up there, I won't worry about it. It ain't too loud with the CAT and Muffler on it, good deep throat and a nice drop in temps. It sounds like I'll be alright.
As strange as it sounds I spent the first 7 years of my career up there, and wanted as far away from the state as possible. My wife, on the other hand, has family up in New England so with me deploying its better for her to be close to home.

I'll place a call to the joint that I bought the truck from, see if there is anything they know that's different. Thanks again.
