I know what you mean Rob. If it wasnt for the fact I have training the week of the ATNS I might have gone again this yr. But training for work is more important at the moment. And I will be getting 3 weeks of vacation time as soon as I hit the 5 yr mark which isnt to far off. I figured that between the delayed holidays and 3 weeks of vacation time I would be able to take 5 weeks off a yr.
My vacation time carries over every yr. The only things that dont carry over from yr to yr is personal days and the summer floating holiday. ( the floating holiday is just an extra day off in the summer)Sick time also carries over from yr to yr where I work at.
Shaun, my company doesn't like us to carry over time, although with only two weeks, I manage to use mine without trouble. We have to get a Director's approval to carry over time. They usually only allow it if were tied up in a big project and can't get the time off.
Also, when we hit the 3 week point, we have to take one of those weeks in full, can't take it all a day at a time. I guess it's good they want us to take a break.

Pretty much all of my vacation time is or has been used up due to the issues with my legs. I get 10 days of vacation at my anniversary date, earn a half day per pay period which works out to 13 days. So I get and earn 23 vacation days a year, 13 sick days a year and I can carry over up to 6 months worth of sick and vacation time a year.
I know where Im at I can have a maximum of 1040 hrs of sick, 24 total hrs of personal time and at the moment for me 80 hrs of vacation time. That doesnt include all of the delayed holidays we get here at work. Once I pass my 5 yr mark I will be able to have 120 hrs of vacation time per yr. I also get the summer floating holiday which is a paid day off only in the summer time. For delayed holidays I can have up to 80 hrs of delayed holidays. The delayed holidays, summer holiday, and personal days do not carry over.
