This post was posted in the superduty section and I was advised to move it here. This is what I want to know
I have a 04 F250 6.0 PS and was wondering if it would hurt to unbolt the exhaust right before the muffler or cat. (or cut it off) I plan on getting a full MBRP exhaust but not for another couple months. will this hurt the performance of the truck or should I just leave it? I want to get rid of the cat and the muffler if possible. I ahve an intake, but I do not have a tuner. can this be done without causing any damage to the motor?
Don't see why it would hurt anything, but it would be pretty loud and you would get soot all over the bottom of the truck. Also, in a few months when you spend several hundred on a full exhaust you will probably be disappointed since it will end up being quieter

LOL loud is good, dont mind the soot i can wash the bottom off.. It doesnt blow any smoke out at all anyways so it wont be too bad.

To be honest I am bieng impatient. I just want to make sure it wont hurt anything with the lack of back pressure and stock tune.
i know alot of people are running no cat no muffler but there is a pipe to accumulate some sort of back pressure. Im talking about leaving it a short pipe (right before the cat) so alot less backpressure
