Battery Time ?

Hey guys, my truck has had the same two batteries since Oct '07 (well that's what's stamped on the batteries so..) Anyhow, my lack of driving this truck has probably killed them, I have to keep throwing a charger on them. So what does everyone like for new batts? I want to maximize CCA (cold cranking amps).

I also plan on putting a trickle charger on them so they don't eat it...

Thanks!

I bought a pair of Motorcraft 850CCA from my local dealership last fall for $250, for the pair. The reason I went with those....100 month warranty (36 month replacement), free roadside assistance for the first 36 months and any Ford/Lincoln/Merc dealership will honor the warranty. I do allot of traveling for work, so like the tires from Sam's under the truck...it just made allot of since for me. The only drawback, the dealership has to install them for the warranty to be honored.

I put two Sears Platinum batts in and they are great.
They are 930 cca and a 100 month warranty and 48 month replacement.
My truck has never started so good.
They are just pricey and about $200 each.

Is that what you plan on using? I've heard good things about them, but never really needed one.

Also, I went with the Sears batteries, too. They weren't cheap, but after two years they still got me through another NH winter without plugging in-the T6 probably helped.

My Motorcraft 850's are working just fine, but when the time comes again, these will be my choice.

Yeah, that maybe the case but there's a ton of good and valuable info in those 10 pages so I think it's worth it.

P.S. I rep'ed everyone who responded so far. Zil and Mark I 'have to spread it around more" but reps coming.

Yip, aren't they fun! I forgot to mention in my first post that the batteries that came out of my truck last November where the ones installed by KTP back in 9/03. I figure 7 years was long enough on a set of batteries...especially with the number of FICM failures everyone was having the winter of '09/'10. I took one of the batteries and stuck in it the Explorer and still fires right up fine (the Explorer doesn't get far from the house much anymore).
