Mil1ion what ISP are you with?
I am on Monarch cable and get 10g down and 1 g up per month
for $39.95
The only broadband I can get here is Telus ADSL or Monarch. Both are the same price and Monarch is usually faster and more reliable.
Used to be unlimited till too many people got on now its 44.95 for 10g down 5g up.
Its 3Mbit down and 1Mbit up for speeds if anyone is interesting.
They allow me 3 ips (or mac addresses to be politically correct) and I think i am exceeding the limit due to the # of computers I have hooked up (and the separate LAN's that are setup behind it but all route out through it)
In order to solve some of the problem I centralized my 11G MP3 collection and 15G music video collection on my server which is both on the WIFI network and the lan network so that no one needs to use kazaa except me.
Other then that I think I am the only bandwidth hog when I download crap I dont need or misc. songs that I hear that are good.
You understand I said 3Megabit right? (just wanted to make sure)
So yes I get about 350KB/s. Not from one download though, from multiple downloads on kazaa plus doing other things.
I keep track of it all through DU meter. Thing is I never got much more then 250KB/s before they put hte 10G down limit per month. Now people are more scared to go over (stupid kids trading warez with mommys computer hosting a ftp lol) so it is faster now.
I've seen 2230 kb/s when checking on www.dslreports.com
I've gone over the 10G down and 1G up I'm allowed a few times when I was making cds
Not that I'd ever download pirated music or anything though
Do you mainly use kazaa? Or kazaalite?
I usually use Bearshare but have kazaalite too.
kazaalite is the only non-spyware software out their atm. Bearshare has lots thats why I stopped using it. mmm let me check that site
Remember that KB is KiloByte, where as kb is kilobit. I hate to be nitpicking but the difference is huge.
So say to me that you can download an average song in 1.5seconds (2200KB/s) or you can download one in 15 seconds (2200kb/s)
If you seriously can get 2200KB/s thats amazing. From my server to my computer I get 11,000KB/s :-) But considering its through a relatively short line and a couple of very fast computers...
ps. I got 1900kb/s off that site.
So I was correct. thats actually about 190KB/s so you actually did 220KB/s off that site =)
Confusing eh? I was majoring in computer engineering before I switched majors =0
Hey, I'm all of the above and maybe alittle worse. The only cable we got around here is jumper cable. Bandwith? Is that rock, country, rap, or what type of music do they play. With a name like that they must be some big fellas. I sure hate it when you guys get all technical and leave us stooges in the dust.
...Ok, it's starting to make sense...
Now riddle me this batman, Ive been considering the high speed internet option. In reading the brochures, why do they charge extra for the "Dial-up option? If you have high speed why do ya NEED the dial-up?
