Installing headers straight 6
I'm installing a set of hedman hedders on a 1979 F100 straight 6 ( 300 ) also installing an Offy Intake for 4 barrel. Question ... Im having a hard time getting hedders mounted due to one set of pipes just hitting cross member and not allowing mounting bolts to line up with hole . Only missing by 1/8 - 1/4 " at the most. My initial thought was to try and slightly bend pipes but backyard mechanics aint cuttin it here. Any suggestions ????

I have this same setup on my '79 (300 six) and the header went in without any modification. However, I did have to remove the passenger-side exhaust heat shield on the bottom of the cab to get clearance for them to go in. After that, it was a tight squeeze, but they popped into place after some coaxing. Mine is a 2-wheel drive, though; is yours a 4x4? I don't think the Hedmans will work with a 4x4 setup, but I could be wrong.
