Hotwiring...?
It's not clear from my repair manual how to hotwire at the ignition switch.
But from looking at the wiring diagram, it does look like you can hotwire under the hood. I haven't tried it, YMMV.
1. Connect 12V to the starter relay terminal with the BROWN wire. Relay should be on passenger fender, with a thick cable going to the battery. This gets power to the ignition module, alternator, and ignition coil.
2. Then, crank the motor by jumping 12V to the starter relay terminal with the red/blue wire.
I don't think this will make any of the accessories work, but you'll know if the truck is going to start & run. You should have headlights, brake lights, and hazard lights just by having 12V at the battery.
Some DMV will let you do a reverse-owner lookup from the VIN. In VA, at least, if you write the owner certified mail, and they either say you can have it, or don't respond in 30 days, you can get a salvage title for it. Or maybe nobody cares, you don't care either, and it's yours the moment you get it on your land.
