Trailer brake issue

Has any one had an issue with the TBC where it works trailer brake with slide but not with foot brake ? This is making me nuts brakes work on trailer when I power the pin on the trailer embilical cord so trailer is working . I only get voltage to 7way truck connector with the slide on TBC , I took truck to Ford when I could find nothing with ABS , PCM and TBC all tests show it is working , talked to the teck working on truck and explained what was happening $$$$ later told me to take trailer to camper shop . I ain't a rocket man but there is only one wire for trailer brakes on trailer embilical and it works the brakes . Where else do I need to look on my truck ? I have ford manual on disc wiring diagrams show only one wire to trailer plug Help !!!!!!!

Year? OE or aftermarket TBC? If aftermarket it sounds like it not getting input from the brake light switch into the unit to activate the signal. Mine (Tekonsha P3) will also not put anything out unless I am moving when I it the brakes, otherwise I have to use the lever.

More on TBC

It is the ford unit . I just ran some tests myself right at the TBC and it is getting all signals to work . Just no out put to 43db circut with foot brake . I do not remember it not working untill a speed reached , worked as soon I pluged in ,I have camper in back yard and you know when the trailer brake's are working ,trailer is 13000 lbs , now my dealer say's they checked all this out ,and the owners book says nothing about trailer brakes not working till a mph reached nor anything about weight on truck . All my tests done with it hooked up .

Simple test...don't think it will work for your year but try anyway.

With someone stepping on the brake, you go to each wheel and see if there is power to the drum.

All you have to do is listen at each wheel for a buzz. Buzz means power is going to the wheel.

Each brake will draw 3 amps.

It is a proportional brake controller. I'm not as familiar with the Ford TBC as I am with aftermarket controllers, but a proportional controller measures deceleration and applies proportional braking power. If it doesn't sense any deceleration, I wouldn't expect it to apply much voltage. It should apply some initial voltage, however I would expect it to be quite low.

I have also heard that early versions of the Ford TBC will not apply braking power unless the vehicle is moving more than a certain speed, but I've never seen that verified.
