Got the hoist, got the engine stand, time to pull the motor. Where is the right place to put the chains? The only things I've taken off the motor are the fan, water pump, alternator, and starter. So I can't use a head bolt or anything. Can I re-use a waterpump bolt or do I need something stronger?
What's the right way to mount the chain so I can lift the motor?
I figured I'd rather post a newbie question than have to post a "what do I do after I dropped the motor" post.
i pulled a 300 out from in front of a 4 speed at the wrecking yard once, put the chain on a bellhousing bolt (left the clutch attached to the motor, left the trans in) at the back, and one of the front manifold bolt holes. (might have to get a longer bolt) it worked alright.
on a side note, the front sheet metal is easy to remove on these trucks i take the rad support, inner and outer fenders as an assembly, its like 8 bolts and gives so much room.
