OT ring shopping

Looks like we are going to lose another good man! Haha. I'll throw my 2 cents in as well as I just bought one several months back.
I picked one up from my a local jewelry shop as the quality seemed to be better and I liked the customer service and attention to detail the gentlemen gave. It may have been a little bit more than purchasing one from one of the retail chain stores, but this guy was extremely knowledgeable. I asked several questions regarding the quality of the ring and the grade process, etc and he could answer them all.
I've heard several stories of guys buying rings from the stores that are in the mall and end up being dissappointed because something went wrong. Stuff like discoloration, stones falling out, etc.
These things are (can be) expensive... and you have the buy the band for the wedding too....
