I don't know what the exact color popularity is from top to bottom but when I bought my truck, I had the dealer do a search for an 08 F250 or F350 with a V10. In a 100 mile radius, he found 10 trucks. Mostly black, one blue and one red . I couldn't wait to get my hands on the red F350 and I love it. I know the manufacturers can't offer a zillion different colors but I'm surprised at the limited color palate not only from Ford but GM and Dodge as well even though they offer several more exotic colors on some smaller trucks and their respective car lines. The technology is there I guess they want to keep it simple.
Get the color you want. Forget what other people say, they pay for it they can dictate the color. I really wanted red this time but Mama said NO. Ok I know but the wife has veto power.
I looked at a red truck before I bought mine and the color was so bright that it almost hurt my eyes to look at. Guess I'm one of the people your dealer was referring to. That was an 05 though, so maybe they changed the red on the new ones.
I think the SD looks good in red. White is only the most popular color because so many base models and fleet trucks are painted white, which skews numbers. To be honest, other than the stripped-down contractor specials on dealer lots, I see very few white SDs. There is a member on the forum here (maybe the OP) that was wanting a Premium? White truck with black leather. That is a hard combo, as most in that color are the King Ranches with the saddle interior.
One of the classiest trucks I have seen was a white one with the silver two tone and grey interior. Wow did it look sharp with the chrome package, it was about an 05~06 model. That from me and I don't normally go for white trucks.
I think someone should take a pool to see what the color break down is on this site. I'll bet you would be surprised to see how popular white is. I have owned 5 Ford trucks and all have been white.....
I agree on the 2011s. It is my favorite color. I have different opinions based on the truck. If I were buying a base model XL, I want black so as to blend in with the black plastic front end. Those look nice. If I were buying an XLT, probably red or green, as those contrast nicely with the chrome. If I were buying a Lariat, I would go with the bronze color, and if I were to buy a KR, it would be either the bronze or the Premium White.
What I like and want to see again is the two-tone schemes of the 70s-90s were the top and bottom of the truck are one color with a different color in the middle. Blue/white and red/white are my favorites.
AND WHERE IS MY ALUMINUM PIECE ON THE TAILGATE? I loved that.
For my 2011 it was a toss up between the golden bronze and the dark pearl blue. I ended up ordering the blue but the more I look at the bronze the more I think I made a mistake.
