Don't know if this is relevant to anyone other than me, but I've noticed a ton of threads on many sites expressing frustration at the lack of ability of finding this part. Several years ago the plastic end cap (that the Overdrive button sits in the middle of) broke, and I subsequently lost the broken cap. It's frustrating to have a gear shift lever without the nice smooth end cap on it. Plus, it exposes the overdrive button.
In true fashion, Tousley Ford's Parts departments found it right away, and gave me the number to share (because you CAN NOT find it without the part number). From reading many other sites, apparently the part number is in the Collision catalog, which Trademotion (or whatever Ford calls it)does not search.
So if you need it, the Ford part number is F2UZ7A214CA .
I usually use Ed he is a site sponsor and has about the same prices. I had to replace the whole lever on mine because the end broke. www.partsguyed.com With small parts I usually get them locally because of shipping costs.
Dorman part number 49299, usually $8-$10 from Advance or O'Reilly...
Not really cheaper then Ed, but get it right away if you need it.
I was looking at this Dorman part...but I read reviews that the whole assembly is simply held in by friction, and does not "click" in like the OEM part. I was reading where people said it kept popping out when they'd grab the lever and shift. It got fairly negative reviews.
Not saying it won't work...but after reading about that, I continued to search for the OEM number.
BTW...I don't know why it was so hard to find the part number. I was scouring Google and other boards, and there were a lot of people complaining they couldn't find it. It seems that every Ford truck since 1992 up through 2011 has been using it! I guess we've all gotten so used to clicking a mouse that picking up the phone is "too much hassle." LOL! I'm guilty of it myself.

The convuluted drop-dow menu doesn't help. Who would think of looking under:
<TABLE border=0 cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width="100%" align=center><TBODY><TR><TD class=tabletext bgColor=#eeeeee noWrap> Steering column</TD></TR><TR><TD class=tabletext bgColor=#eeeeee noWrap>Housing and components</TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>
I was just persistent.
And the fact that when you find the part through the menu the part number is not listed, just a description.

I guess you didn't open my link. Posted the same from Edmo's site...
I have a spare new end cap and switch if you want it I can ship it to you. I owe you a favor for the CD. PM me if so...
