Bad iac??
Well, that's great you got the problem fixed. A bad idle can be caused by so many different things, it's a hard thing to diagnose. When I replace my lower intake manifold gaskets at 127,000 miles I couldn't believe how bad some of the vacuum hoses looked. they would crumple in my hands.
I hope your Escape keeps you safe and secure for the rest of the time with you! Mine has been great, unfortunately it got hit with big time hail damage last week in the Dallas Fort Worth area, so I find out tomorrow from the insurance adjuster what the damages are, Oh well, glad you got the problem solved!

I'm glad the problem is solved too and it was only a hose. I hope this is it for a while. This car is getting pretty expensive. Thanks for all the help and ideas! Has anyone had an issue with their ford escapes air bag light? Mine has been on since a few months after I for the car. And been back to the dealer at least 5 times when I had my warranty
I hope you were able to return the the defective IAC. Most electrical parts are 'you bought it, it's yours..', but if it was defective, I'd demand a refund, or at least a replacement that I could try to sell or put on the shelf.
I don't know why you think the Escape is expensive, but if you had to make car payments, each of them would be close to what it costs for repairs, monthly. The air bag light will flash a code when the ignition is turned on. A possible weak link is the 'clockspring', which I understand has up to 9 conductors to handle the airbag, cruise, and possibly audio controls on the steering wheel. When you turn the wheel back and forth, the clockspring winds and un-winds, so it gets 'activity' with each steering input.
Count the warning light flashes and someone may be able to decode the problem without a visit to your local...

My g/f and I own an Escape, and well I own 2 older F-150's. My question concerning the airbag light flashing and the dealership is, did you return the vehicle back to the dealership when it 1st started to flash? Was that in the 5 return trips to the dealership? What was their take on it? Was this Escape "Used"? It sounds classic that this dealership let another Ford owner slip thru the cracks. If they gave you the run around I would contact the Manager of that particular $tealership and tell him the problem directly. If he refuses to address your problem, contact Ford directly. Inform them of the dealership you have addressed your problem with and yet have failed to diagnosis/recognize. I'm sure that if Mike Rowe, "Dirty Jobs" had a similar problem with his Ford, either it would be fixed promptly or would provide him with a newer version of his beloved Ford vehicle.
You may also want to try another dealership as they do not work together as a Team from what I have found out over the years.

I bought the car used. It was less than 2 yrs old. I bought it in November and in march I brought it to he dealer for the air bag light. When I bought the car I got an extended warranty (thank god bc it saved me money) the dealer said it was some sort of switch under the drivers seat that went bad. Less than a week late the light came on again. Brought it back to the dealer and they said it was the other switch under the passengers seat and I should be good. A few months later it was back. Same issue. Each time it has been the switch under the seat. The dealer said it is a known issue. That id u have anything under the away rolling around it can cause the switch to go bad. I have a friend with a 2002 with an air bag light prob and a friend with an 2007 with the same prob.I emailed Ford and asked if its known prob why don't they do something about it. they emailed me back and told me to contact my dealer. nobody was any help
