what should i be expecting to pay??

i went to a local dealer (there pretty small and kinda new) saw a 94 ford ranger splash 4x4 v-6 4.0 super cab. i think the prev. owner jack knifed a trailer cause bumper is smashed on one side and hitch is bent and the tailgate is kind of dinged not too bad (was going to put air gate on anyway).
Well, my friend has a hoist and we jacked it up... it needs a new head gasket, new brake line on driver front (it split open and just ran down, fluid in the wheel well), new bushings (brake fluid ran over the ones in driver right so will just replace all) will need new shocks (if you bounce the front it whines, the shock is rubbing on the inside).
the tires are in good condition but it doesnt come with a spare. it has running boards (the chrome tubes). forgot to check the u-joints when we lifted it. i was just wondering what the truck is worth the way it is.

i live in south dakota if that changes anything, he said he would take 4200 for it.

ps has 140k on it.

tried to put everything i know if more questions please ask will try to answer so you can be more accerate.

thanx in advance

I usually don't comment on used truck values, but that's an AWFUL lot of money for a '94 with that miles, in that condition. I just bought a '94 STX 4x4 Supercab with a 4.0, about 109,000 mi. Body is excellent (no dents, no rust), interior nearly perfect. Rear bumper is rusted, front bumper bent and grille cracked from a meeting with a deer (no sheet metal damage). A/C doesn't work, clutch is fair (will need replacing in about 6 months of driving), front hubs are shot, so they need replacing. Overall, I think you'll agree mine is a little nicer, needs less work, and far fewer miles. I paid $3,000 for it. I'm thinking yours is more in the $2,000-2,500 range, especially considering the bad head gasket.

Angry what should i be expecting to pay??

that truck sounds more like a 1200 truck. I know that a 93 with under 100K around here in good condition will sell for around 2000. I didn't thing that South Dakota had such a truck shortage. Maybe we should carry several trucks up to that area. They seem to be hurting for vehicles.
Anybody want to make a little money??

HOLY MOLY there is someone other than me from South Dakota???

How about that!

Where exactly are you from, I'm from Rapid.....

There's a lot of good used rangers that are in real great shape for the $4k neighbor hood here in Rapid City.

I wouldn't give them a dime over $2000 (even that's stretching it far as i'm concerned) for something in that tough of shape. You really need to think of the amount of parts you'd have to put in.

Good Luck!

I'm originally from that part of the state, I graduated from Hamlin High School in '98.

Even around the Watertown area there are lots of good used rangers in better shape than what you looked at for 3000-4000 dollars.

Best place to look is in the Watertown classifieds, I'd stay away from places like Lake City motors....lots of shady deals go on there...found out the hard way.

Good Luck!
