Power steering swap- steering column modifications?
I have seen referances to three ways to go about the power steering swap-
Bendix gear. No.
Ford gear with later column
Ford gear and modify stock column.... What is involved here? It looks like the flange that bolts to the rag joint at the gearbox may be welded onto the shaft. Can I just cut the welds and shorten the shaft? Then weld it back on?
Or is there some other differences? Like angle?

Chris, Getting a newer shorter shaft column with the correct tranny shift match might be the simplest way to go.
The newer donor column has a different cuff at the dash that longer bolts overcome, but is almost plug & play.
3spd columns can be the trickiest to make fit by cutting.

I'm still curious what is needed to modify the shaft.
Do I just remove the flange, shorten, and re-weld?
I'd rather re-use this column, A) it's original and B) I can't find a column for power steering and a manual transmission...
