Flag Mount

I'm looking to devise a way to mount a flag behind my truck. I thought about maybe an in bed set up, or a stake pocket or something. Anyone have any ideas?

How big a flag? How high a staff? What kind of driving would you do with the flag displayed?

The biggest problem is likely to be the flag staff rather than the mount.

All up for debate. I just want something that will work, preferably up to 55mph.

It is going to matter the size of the flag.....55 is generating a lot of drag on the flag....needs to be strong pole like Tom was saying.

It won't be taller than the cab. I was thinking maybe (if the stake pockets are deep enough) I could make a mount by dropping a piece of PVC into the stake pocket behind the cab and put the pole in that.

Mine sits in the back of the bed, fully removable, but locks in place with a lip under the tailgate. It actually holds up to 3 flags. (Apologies for the really bad photo quality.)

Here's a pic of one that was made just like Arlene's (courtesy of FTE PA chapter member Bill (liftnw8z) )

The tall part of the "box" sits up against the closed tailgate and the tab fits through the gap between the bed and the gate.
