Vin number

My dealer just called me today and said that he had some good news and some bad news for me. The good news is that my F350 is scheduled to be built during the week of June 13th. The bad news is that he didn't have a vin # for me. My question is if it is scheduled to be built, shouldn't there have been a vin number assigned?

Yup... If a build week has been assigned, so has a VIN. VIN first, build week comes second...

So, why would he tell me he doesn't have a vin number? I hope he's not fooling around with my rebates. I was told that once he had a vin # the current rebates were locked in even though the rebates when the truck was delivered may be less.

No, I was always told that if there are lower rebates available at the time of delivery than they will be applied. If there are no rebates available at the time of delivery than the rebates that were out when the order was placed will still apply. To sum it up which ever is lower at time of delivery.

I've been told delivery is the important factor and what Super08 mentioned.
Doesn't mean it's correct but that makes two of us.

Anyone else here ford has run out of navigation and don't know when they will have them in and you can't get black right now?

Yes...it was reported that you cannot order nav since 2 weeks ago.
Incentives depend on the dealer. Any dealer can lock all incentives at the time of order if they choose, but Select dealers are locked by default. You get whatever is higher at time of delivery.
Black is available last I knew. There was some discussion of a shortage after the Japan Tsunami, but that was just talk.

My local dealer told me the same, no NAV or black. Only Nav are the ones already produced, he wasn't sure it would be available again.

I really like the Nav in my truck. Now, I would hold off for the next model year to get one, although you can get OEM and install it after the fact. I used to carry my portable Garmin around between vehicles. For me, the Nav and Sync features are too convenient not to have anymore.

My truck is supposed to be built today. I think it is one of the last ones to get nav, I was very lucky. At first it didn't look like they would have one for me.

It is expected that the 2012 will come with the nav/syc systems like in the 150 and other vehicles where you can control the climate control and more with it.

Hopefully, it's more accurate than the current system. Mine has been poor when compared to my .99 cent MotionX GPS iphone app.

The dealer told me that adding oem nav after the fact did not produce an "acceptable customer experience"....and they didn't recommend it.

If it is OEM, not sure what that means.

Probably translates to:

It can't be installed after it's built...we've tried and it went badly.

Well I have black and the nav unit and I can tell you this the nav unit is not the best for navigation but the unit as a whole is GREAT for all of the other functions that it does and would advise waiting until they get more in stock and on the line.

Also on a side note has anyone heard why they are not painting them black anymore?
