what code scanner do I need?
I've got a 94 F150 XLT with a 5.0 with a MAF at the air box. It's a N code truck and a U code trans.
Are there different scanners for different parts of the drive train, or is there 1 that does everything?

The one computer controls the whole powertrain so you only need one code reader. The Equus 3145 is popular here.

x2 and it's pretty cheap to buy used or new. Autoparts stores like O'Reily's usullay stock 1-2 of them behind the counter for $20-$30.

Yeah I love my Equus. Got it shipped to my door for $22. The only local garage that could scan my truck wanted $40 just for a one time scan!!!

When pulling codes the normal way you have to count the CEL flashes to come up with the codes. Its a PITA. Wish that 3145 worked for me..
