I am going to a least try to get a replacement set out of them, before I spend my money to put a truely worthy shock on the truck. Thoughts?

Tim...have you pursued warranty replacement any further? I just bought my truck a few weeks ago, had a 12/10 build date, and my shocks already look like the picture posted on the 1st page. I'm assuming the rust issue is more than cosmetic...if the rust gets through the weld, then either shock will separate from the vehicle or would leak damping fluid. Maybe a safety issue?

No I had surgery on my right foot so I cant drive and the wife isnt crazy about driving the truck. The truck doesnt bounce like it has bad shocks. With our heavy springs can we do the bounce test? What makes me think there bad is the ride, but the dealer is going to say the ride is fine. That is the delema I am trying to figure out.

I'm going in next week for the second time my front shocks have failed. I won't accept a third set of Rancho brand shocks to be put on my truck. We'll see what happens.

when i had my old 90 F250, i put a set of Gabriel shocks on from autozone.. i put over 30K on that truck before i got my new '11.. and those shocks were still riding smooth and looking great.. the paint was still shiny..i've also had the same shocks on my Ranger for about 4 years now they also work and look great..i've noticed the Rancho's on my '11 ride like crap.. it bounces like mad on bumpy roads.. my old truck with it's leaf spring front end held the road better..as soon as i get through summer (huge power bills in summer..thanks to the AZ heat) these rancho's are going buh-bye... maybe i can get $20 for them if i have a garage sale?

Front Rancho shocks were replaced by the dealership at 11,8XX.

Due to rust, or were they leaking, or some other issue?

Don't mean to open up a can of worms, but after reading this post I went outside, crawled under my truck and inspected all my Rancho shocks. None of mine have any rust and still look new and appear to be working fine. Built 10/10 with 11K+ miles. Why are their so many problems with others and none with mine? I'm in a hot dry climate, no salt on the roads, could that be the answer?

That is exactly the answer! Spend a winter in the north with all the road salt that we deal with and you will find the rust. I am a fanatic about keeping the underside of the truck as clean as the top side and still have to be careful with certain things wanting to rust.

This is the second truck that I have had a B&W Turnover Ball hitch on and after being on the truck for 8 months and 1 Winter I already have rust issues with it. I have coated everything with Fluid Film now, but you shouldn't have to do that to keep new shocks from rusting!

I live in far west Texas (extremely dry) and my truck is garaged, my shocks are starting to show minor rust along the welds. I'll likely be replacing them soon with Bilsteins. Oh and I think my left rear shock is sticking causing the rear bed to be a little lopsided. After some time it goes back to normal. Rancho shocks on these Fords seem like a real POS to me.
