Hi Everyone. I'm new to the site and to the older Fords. A good friend of mine just purchased a 1965 f250 2wd with the 352 v8. The engine wiring harness has seen better days and is pretty well destroyed.
Does anyone offer a factory type replacement?
How about the underdash (cab) wiring harness?
Thanks again. I've been sifting through great info on this site for hours now and making notes on how to make sure I do this truck up right.
No reproduction of the underdash harness. There's a reproduction headlight harness, but I don't think there's an engine feed only harness. I found one NOS on eBay a long time ago. I'm rewiring my entire truck as a Mustang. I can't say it will be easy since I haven't started yet, but from the research I've done, it shouldn't be too tough. I'll keep the forum updated as I do this.
There are several pieces that make up the harnesses in the engine compartment. these all are physically separate, or plug into one another. I am not listing schematics, just actual wiring components.
There are 2 main ones:
Engine/Ignition - plugs into bulkhead connector, for starting, sending units, distributor
Lighting: plugs into second bulkhead connector, for lights; has a split-off to the rear lights
Several smaller ones:
Main Charging circuit - to regulator and alternator
Secondary charging circuit - for ALT light in dash, is part but separate from the Main charging circuit
Brake light switch
Variables:
If equipped with the Oil Pressure and Ammeter gauges, there will be an additional circuit to a main connector near the starter solenoid. Further, there are 2 possibilities for this wiring; one has only the 2 ammeter wires, and the other has the additional wiring for the Oil Pressure and Temp gauges.
If you are interested, I have spares of the 2 main harnesses - use PM or e-mail. please.
Purchased reproduction Harnesses for the 65 F100 from Mr. Mustang Inc. it was a matter of unplugging the old and plug in the new, same connectors and wire color codes. Seem to recall few of the Ford part suppliers now carry them. I was very pleased w/ the quality. If intend running additional circuits may want to consider aftermarket kit. I purchased the alternator, engine, head and tailligh harnesses. they ran about $100 ea. If decide to go this route, believe I still have pic's of price sheet, and alt. harness.
I called them yesterday inquiring about this harness...IT IS MISMARKED ON THE LOCATER!!!

It's still listed as an A on the locator, and no one shows an H.
