Just brought the fiver back from getting a few things looked at about 2 hours away. I was smiling from the minute I pulled out of the dealership. Fiver weighs in around 9500-10000 empty and it literally pulled like I had a snowmobile trailer back there. No bucking, swaying, etc. The truck stayed in 6th at 65 (1500 rpms) for the entire trip and returned 12.4 MPG according to the lie-o-meter.
Glad to hear you love the new truck! Most of us felt the same away after towing heavy for the first time. Must be a great improvement over the old V10!

That V10 was a beast with the 5 Star tuner on it, but the torque this diesel has just blows it away....that and it's so nice to not have the engine spinning 3500 RPMs on the hills....nice and quiet inside!
That is encouraging to hear. I haven't had a chance to pull a heavy load with mine yet, but looking forward to doing it. I haven't heard a bad towing report yet (though I am sure someone out their is disappointed and will comment on it).
We leave a week from tomorrow for our first tow. I've got 1100 miles on my chassis cab and it has 4.10 LS. I pull at 60 mph. It's 1800 miles from our door to Travis AFB. My Alumascape is 10,550 empty, and we travel light. My 04 F250 diesel did 10 mpg. I'm anxious to see what the new rig does. I was hoping for 12, we'll see soon.

You're going to spin a little faster with the 4.10 than my 3.55, but I'll bet you get 12 or so (depending on hills and wind) I had a pretty good headwind coming home so I'd bet if I slowed down a little and had no wind I would have done a little better.
A more relaxing pull and stability is the only reason I bought the dually. Well, I may have wanted a new truck too. Anyhow, the 04 F250 SRW SB had enough power, but the crosswinds on I40 from Oklahoma City to Barstow were never fun. I've never owned a dually so this is completely new to me. The flatbed was because I was tired of worrying about bed rail clearance and not being able to load things over the side. I pull at 60 everywhere except California where the limit is 55 and that's what I do. I knew the 4.10 would probably hurt me a little on mileage, but didn't want the 3.73 non-LS rearend. Well all the questions will be answered in a week. I can't complain, or my wife will shoot me before I get to Amarillo!!!
