Intake Removal and replace

When I was installing my Mechanical gauges I noticed that the back and front rubber seals of the intake where shot ( 400ci). So this past week end I decided to replace the intake gasket
what the valley pan looked like

I ended up spending hours cleaning up carbon out of the EGR valve.

My question is on the front part of the heads there is a port that looks like it is block with crud. Is this some thing that need to be cleaned out? or just the way it is. I tried a little but it seams solid.

And dose any body know what the torque rating is for the intake bolts?

Everything has a torque spec. Just use the spec for the smallest size bolt in your intake. Unless they are all the same. They need to be tightened in a pattern too.

Intake manifold torque spec as per Haynes manual is 5/16 bolts 17 to 25 Ft pounds and 3/8 bolts 28 to 32 Ft pounds.
