if you can go get this one before it is sent away to it's doom,it's highly likely that with just 80k miles on it,it's simply just broken in now.these engines are known for reaching 3-400k and sometimes much higher between rebuilds.
don't delay!
after the rebuild of a 6.9l by Dave S,he once stated (not an exact quote) "don't worry about fuel economy until 50k miles."
rbsample,
if no one comes to get the thing,you may want to offer scrap price for it.sure would be a shame to just toss away an idi w/ 80k miles.that's essentially,brand new still.
if you can show the engine only has 80k actual miles,and get it running,you could get a fair deal of $ for that.
if you showed proof of 80k miles,then your looking at around 1k for the engine all easy.
if you look around,"generally" they sell for around 5-600 sometimes (often; i should say) a bit more.however that's not for such new engines like this one.
i found the quote by Dave!

I am going to say I was over 50,000 miles before it really started to run great.
to sweeten the deal;
with the ambulance package,you get the 200a alternator.
so to summarize;
get the engine,treat and maintain the coolant asap,and the likelihood of having the engine far outlast your current idi truck is extremely high.with operating costs lower than a fresh rebuild,due to already having the engine broken in.
someone rescue her.
If it were my truck, I would spend the $200 on a starter, get it to run and sell it for a few grand. I think it is worth more money whole and running than it is for parts and scrap.
OK guys, sounds like he is going to cut the back end off of the chassis (the ambulance part) and take to scrap, I bought the rest and will part it out.
I will take possession of it tom, Tuesday the 24th and see what is what with the engine and driveline and get back to anybody that is interested in anything off of it or if somebody wants the whole unit.
If anybody wants any additional information off of this thing give me a call tomorrow after 12:00pm est at 717-989-2487. Thanks!
