ahh ok.
yeah forget about fuel economy at all with a tight engine.
you keep track of it now, your gunna get sick lmao.
check her again when you have 3 or 5 oil changes on her.
she'll keep loosening up,and you will keep seeing more and more power.its gunna feel like a dog likely until she's run in,and fuel economy is gunna suck.thats just how new engines before brake in are.
dont compare the thing to gas job yet.
Bill have you ever done a textbook break in on that truck? (no jokes about busting the glass, guys!)
Hard acceleration from 35-55 MPH a few times with engine braking to return to the bottom end of that speed zone. Vary the lower and higher speeds while gradually increasing top speed.
I did this for a few weeks when I first put my 6.9 back together. Never did MPG tests that early but I was getting decent numbers by the time I was past 2-5k.
Is there any smoke visible in the side mirror when you are driving it?
How does it start cold?
Yes, I did. Takes it forever to get it to go from 33 to 55.
Very small amount of smoke at WOT at lower RPMs under a load.
Cold starts great, IMO. I can make a vid if you want. I have nothing to compare it to, so I guese I don't know.
When I first put mine together, it did not run very good and the mileage just flat sucked.
As the miles went on, the engine loosened up, the HP and mileage was continually increasing.
I am going to say I was over 50,000 miles before it really started to run great.
is that a f250 or 350?
is it 2 or 4wd?
did you inspect the front wheel bearings, and insure all 4 wheels spin freely when you jack them off the ground?
when's the last time the trans/transfer/rear oil was changed?
Thats the one.
Its a 250 4x4.
All 4 turn like they should and both diffs, the tranny and the T-case got fresh 80W90 when I got the truck. Less than 1000 miles since then.

Makes me feel better to know that your truck was like this when the motor was new too. 50,000 miles is a long time though!

Thats how it starts and the way it runs cold at idle.
It looks like there are several people getting poorer fuel mileage than me.On trips I get 13-14 mpg at 65 mph with a F-350 dually 5 speed with 4.10 gears.
