I just prefer the interiors of the 99-07 superduty over the 08-present.I do like the newer exteriors however.I'll be 40 next month I've always liked NEW over older period...til now hmmm.
99-07 is two different interiors. They changed in 05. Personally I like the 08-10 interior the best, although my 07 is pretty nice also. The new 2011 doesn't do much for me, they got rid of almost all the woodgrain and I don't like how the they did the gauges.
Usually the last time ford changes interiors in trucks they seem to screw up. First and middle are usually the best. Case in point the 80-96/97 trucks. The 80-86 interior was good. 87-91 was the best, it was a refined 80-86, simple but great. 92-96 they moved the dash out way too far and looks boring and crappy. I find the super duty interiors that were the best were 05-07 personally. Though i love the 2011 interior.

To each his own. I've had an '84, '89, '95 and now my '05 and of the 3 earlier ones, I liked the '95 the best. Just felt better laid out and easier to see and the controls were easier to use. The '89 was prettier w/ wood grain but I didn't think it was especially well laid out or functional...at least after seeing the '95. Prefer the '05 better than all of them though. Personally I don't really care for the round air ducts in the newer ones.
Not a big fan or the round air ducts either. Yes the 95 has the usability down, washers and high beams on the turn signal seems to help with that. Heater controls are the ones you can use without looking, the dial ones. Though i think it does it while looking ugly.

I actually miss the foot switch for the high beams, that's one thing I thought was more usable on the older ones. Only time it was a hassle was on the 84 which was a manual...didn't have enough feet when you had to shift and change beams.
I do love my floor high beams. Now I'm wondering why is said the stalk ones are better who knows what i was smoking at the time. I can never figure out the stalk ones if one direction is flash or hold the high beams on. I use my high beams alot more now that i have floor ones. Don't need to talk your hand off the wheel to switch. I agree the manual is the only downside to that method.
My dad has a 2005 6.0 Lariat and I love the interior, hard to choose between his and the 2008-2011's, I have a 2000 XLT and the interior really isn't that bad, but I do wish I had the interior in the 2003 and 2004 after they were slitely renovated in 2003
If you really want to go old school at one time the starter was a switch on the floor just like the high beams. It was over by the gas petal though. When I was a volunteer fire fighter back in the early 80's one of the fire trucks I drove still had one. It was a '51 or a '52 GMC.
