After an accident last week (see my Best bumper Buys post) I thought I only had superficial damage. Now I'm wondering if something worse may have happend. I somehow got into Low 4WD, something I haven't ever been able to do before, and I can't get out.
Neither of the 4WD lights is on (the Low 4WD didn't come on, but it was obvious I was in it), but I am obviously in 4WD and can't get up over 20mph.
So, a couple of questions:
1. What's the problem?
2. How do I fix it?
3. Could it be related to the accident?
A little more info - '94 EB Bronco, automatic, push button 4WD (I know, not ideal, but I bought the truck used).
The accident pushed the bumper back into the driver's side tire hard enough to mess up the steering wheel alignment. The truck still goes in a straight line, but the steering wheel is rotated about 30 deg. from where it used to be.
I tried putting it in neutral, rocking, revving in neutral, and shifting on the fly. Nothing worked.
I finally gave up and took it in for repairs. As I was pointing out the other damage, I noticed that the auto-locking hub on the driver's side was cracked. I guessed I missed it because of all the sludge and snow. Hopefully, this is the fix.
