My '97 Needs an Engine
Hi all, I'm having a lot of trouble getting answers to my questions about my truck. The engine is knocking so I'm guessing its a rod or a bearing. The engine is a 4.6, and I know I need a Romeo 2 valve engine. Can anyone tell me what year span I can use engines from, and what types of vehicles if any other than the 150 this engine came in. The dealerships and junkyards don't seem to know anything. Thanks

Well, look on the top bar of this page at Recalls and TSB.
Click on it and then on 'Full text'.
The next screen has a box for you to put in a TSB number. Put in 96-8-6.
Up comes info on the two engines that may help you ID a motor.
A dealer also can look at the same TSB number.
Look at the differences in the motors and how to tell what a vehichle has by the VIN number.
