5.0 to 5.0 HO - Rotate upper intake?

Hey everyone,

I've got all of the parts and done the research on a 5.0 to 5.0 HO swap, but I have a couple questions that I couldn't really find the answers to through a forum search. For informational sake; I've taken the donor parts from an '87 Mustang utilizing the speed density system, rather than MAF and I will be putting it into a '92 Ford F-150 keeping the speed density set up... for now.

First, can I flip the upper intake 180* so that the throttle body is on the driver's side? I read this was possible, but just wanted to make sure. I want to use the factory air box, so this would be optimal. How would this affect the wiring? Will I need to make any major changes? EGR Valve?

Second, can I use my truck's lower intake or do I HAVE TO use the donor Mustang's lower intake? I only ask out of curiousity.

If anyone has done the swap and encountered these issues please do help me out! Thanks alot guys.

What donor parts are you taking?

The early mustang upper can be rotated 180 deg so you're good there, but you have to use the complete intake(upper and lower) because the truck version is totally different in the port shape, size, location, and bolt pattern, That's the HO on the left, truck in the middle, and Explorer/GT40 on the right.

Thanks alot! The intake on the far left is the one I have sitting in my garage right now - good to know I can flip it around! Should I expect any major problems getting vacuum lines hooked back up or throttle cable issues? I also have the throttle body from the donor mustang as well.

Vacuum lines won't be a problem since they can connect anywhere there is a vacuum signal, the throttle cable could be an issue however since the cars used a different retainer mechanism and bracket, so some fabrication may be in order or you'll need to change the cable.
