I just got done upgrading my 2006 6.0 with ARP Head studs, Black Onyx Gaskets, BPD egr cooler, and "upgraded" oil cooler. Next the list is to upgrade the exhaust. I have been looking at a few different systems online, all 4 inch turbo back. I don't want anything too loud and plan on installing it myself. Was considering MBRP, Magnaflow, and AFE. I was wondering if anyone has any helpful advice or insight on any of these systems, or any other systems worth recommending. Thanks.
I have the 4" MBRP turbo back on a 2006 4WD CC. The price was right, and the installation a piece of cake in my driveway. About the biggest PITA was getting the old down pipe out. The sound was a little louder (no cat) and has a nice whistle to it. I cant say that I have seen any difference in performance but then again I am completly stock other than that. I didnt have a pyro until after the exhaust was in, so I cant compare before and after exhaust temps, but I am assuming they should be running a tad bit cooler. Have yet to tow anything of real weight, we will see then.
Magnaflow for me and also the price was around 450 installed. The magnaflow isn't very loud, quieter than flowmasters on a gasser. But as soon as you step on the skinny pedal
that's when the real noise comes and I promise you that you will like!!
I just installed the magnaflow it is a 3.5 down pipe and 4 back no cat I like it a lot. I did notice it seemed to spool up quicker than the stock exhaust.
i have the mbrp 4" turbo back offroad (no cat) with the mbrp muffler. i love it. just a little louder at idle than stock and regular crusing but when you stomp it everyone will know you just stomped it. its easy to put in. hard part is getting the stock system off. i used the sawsall and cut at the bottom of the down pipe and right in front of the rear axle. get it all in the hangers and put together loose then start tightening it up. also a heads up is the stock downpipe has a lip on the turbo end on the top of the pipe, you have to pick up on it befor you can pull it away from the turbo. this kit lowered my egts up to 200* at wot. it helped my mpg by 1mgp avg. i payed between 350 and 400 for it. cant remember.
4" mbrp stainless. i went with the dual tailpipes. definately would recommend them. they look cool as hell and sound even better. (i have a dually crew cab) around 200 deg. egt drop while towing 14000#. well worth it. i live in washington , we get very little sun here so i went with ss
Thanks for all of the input. It looks like MBRP and Magnaflow are both pretty popular, don't know if Stainless is worth the extra cost or not?
Really depends on where you live. If they use salt there, get the best you can afford. I live in IL and have the T304 exhaust on mine. I tow alot on the interstates also in the winter. It has held up very well thus far for 2 years. No rust
