600 750

I'm looking at doing a new carb and intake was wondering 600 or 750 carb?
It's just my dd sone mudding and I just want more power.
I've got headers and full exhaust. It's a 351m and a 4speed.
Also is the stock fuel pump enough or should I upgrade to the mr. Gasket 80gph?

600cfm is plenty for your 351m. It would be way over carbed with a 750. The stock fuel pump should keep up. If you're wanting more power I would think an intake would be in order to make use of the new carb. That and a straight up timing set (most post 72 factory timing sets are retarded a few deg.).

Ok ya I'll be getting a new intake with the carb in gunna get a kit from summit or jegs and I just did a bottom end rebuild so idk if I wnt to do timing again yet lol. But if I do should I retard or advance it? And would a cam be worth it I'm thinking about doing a full rebuild. Or maybe a 460 swap but idk worse mileage

+1

the only way you'd want a 750cfm on a 351 is if you were spending most of your time above 4500rpm
otherwise you'll be loading up below 4K
(I had a 750 4bbl on my 79 Camaro with a built 383, it ran pig rich around town, but when I opened her up, she came to life about 4K, and had gobbs of power to redline. way too much carb for street driving on a small block)

you may consider a 625 Street Deomon
I'm a fan of them

take a look at a carburetor calculator Carburetor Size Calculator

you take your engine size
max rpm
and efficiancy (probably about 80-85%)

I put in 351ci
6Krpm
85%
and it says 518cfm

I put in 460ci
5500rpm
and 85%
and got 622cfm
