Always carry a kit with SEVERAL sizes of o-rings (Viton preffered). And an extra combination wrench 11/16" because you need that to pull the fittings of the HPOP. (ask me how I know).
BFH, doubles as crowd control, or you can play Thor.
Blocks of wood (ever jack the damn thing up on the side of the road with the bottle jack?).
Recently I got myself a 2 3/4" hub nut socket. I carry BF C-clamps as well for any emergency u-joint work.
But I guess I'm wondering if you are asking about tools left in the shop or tools kept in the truck at all times, or both?
A retractable magnet, like the ones on the counter at napa. I cant tell you how many times my huge hands wouldnt fit into places that i have dropped a nut or bolt into. It has saved my azz a few times and saved a lot of work.
When I started this I was thinking of mainly shop tools. But now I see a few suggestions of what parts/tools would be smart to have along at all times.
I hate the thought of breaking down and being at the mercy of what ever shop is near by. Especially in a non mainstream truck like a psd.
I am new to the psd and diesels in general so I really appreciate all the input. I like the truck and would like to hang on to it or upgrade. I see a diesel in the driveway for a long time to come.

I know exactly what you are saying. I carry everything I can imagine with me right down to the welder. A full tool box, jacks, generators and a camper full of water for a shower after getting dirty fixing whatever. Lots of food and drinks also, LOL!
You are about as prepared as you can get Glenn! Even my favorite tool, the welder! You just need on board air now and you'd be complete. Maybe you do somewhere, I don't know. I've got the york compressor for my air, just need to get after it sometime. (still haven't got batteries moved...too many irons in the fire)
